SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE II is with pride and emotion that I am able once again to com- mend Mrs. Haggard and the Thomas Annual Staff for a fine pub- lication. It is not often in these days that a Superintendent of Schools is able to watch students grow from their first year of Public School to their last. The 1980 graduates were first graders during my first year at Thomas. I look back and realize that 1 have grown also, albeit in ways apart from academic achievement! My challenge to everyone is to make mental and spiritual growth a part of your personality and a constant goal. If you Ho, you w ill never grow old; just more wise. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE 1 would like to congratulate Mrs. Haggard, and the annual staff for another outstanding rendition. They have captured the high- lights of another banner year at Thomas High School. It is a privilege to be associated with a faculty and student body who work so deligently together to succeed academically as well as in the extra curricular programs of our school. I feel this has been an outstanding year for Thomas High School and I would like to congratulate our faculty and student body for making it that way. r JANIE STEVENS SECRETARY 6

EDDIE BECK GRADE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SHARON HOUSLEY ASSISTANT SECRETARY BOARD OF EDUCATION A school is a mirror of the community it serves. It reflects the attitudes and feelings of that community. The Thomas School reflects many important qualities which exist in this community. They include pride, respect, tradition, and cooperation. These traits are found because they have been passed on from one generation to another by concerned parents, teachers, and patrons of this local community. The future of our school, community, and country depends on how well these characteristics are reflected by the students them- selves. With the cooperation of students, teachers, school offi- cials, and the community at large, education will take a tremen- dous stride forward. Thomas students will make a rewarding reflection for both our school and community. Left I» Right: Don Herring. Clerk; Richard Gray. Member. Ray Srhidler. Interim Board Member. Kent Kirkpatrick. President; R. A. McLaughlin. Member and Malcolm Paly, Vice President. 7
