THOMAS TERRIERETTES 1980 CLASS A” STATE CHAMPIONS VOLUME XIII THOMAS PUBLIC SCHOOL THOMAS, OKLAHOMA THE 1980 TERRIER Happiness is being Number 1 2 DEDICATION Mrs. Janie Stevens, School Secretary Mrs. Janie Stevens, one of the most admired and respected persons of our school personnel, is a loving, understanding, and compassionate individual. Her timeless effort in helping people endears her to both the student body and the faculty. Her jobs are many in our school system. She is secretary to Mr. Schneider, the superintendent and to the school board. She is the bookkeeper for the activity and lunch room funds, and is always eager to assist anyone w ho comes to her office. For this, Janie, and your many other contributions to our student body, we, the annual staff, lovingly dedicate the 1980 Terrier to you. 3 1980 ANNUAL STAFF A N N U A L Jeff Powers ami Ramona Tall Bear, Annual Co-Editors; Mike Jones and Jim Roof, Newspaper Co-Editors; John Evans, Lisa Kippenberger, Kath Porter. Photographer ADMINISTRATION SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE II is with pride and emotion that I am able once again to com- mend Mrs. Haggard and the Thomas Annual Staff for a fine pub- lication. It is not often in these days that a Superintendent of Schools is able to watch students grow from their first year of Public School to their last. The 1980 graduates were first graders during my first year at Thomas. I look back and realize that 1 have grown also, albeit in ways apart from academic achievement! My challenge to everyone is to make mental and spiritual growth a part of your personality and a constant goal. If you Ho, you w ill never grow old; just more wise. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE 1 would like to congratulate Mrs. Haggard, and the annual staff for another outstanding rendition. They have captured the high- lights of another banner year at Thomas High School. It is a privilege to be associated with a faculty and student body who work so deligently together to succeed academically as well as in the extra curricular programs of our school. I feel this has been an outstanding year for Thomas High School and I would like to congratulate our faculty and student body for making it that way. r JANIE STEVENS SECRETARY 6 EDDIE BECK GRADE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SHARON HOUSLEY ASSISTANT SECRETARY BOARD OF EDUCATION A school is a mirror of the community it serves. It reflects the attitudes and feelings of that community. The Thomas School reflects many important qualities which exist in this community. They include pride, respect, tradition, and cooperation. These traits are found because they have been passed on from one generation to another by concerned parents, teachers, and patrons of this local community. The future of our school, community, and country depends on how well these characteristics are reflected by the students them- selves. With the cooperation of students, teachers, school offi- cials, and the community at large, education will take a tremen- dous stride forward. Thomas students will make a rewarding reflection for both our school and community. Left I Right: Don Herring. Clerk; Richard Gray. Member. Ray Srhidler. Interim Board Member. Kent Kirkpatrick.
