Introducing our new principal . . . Dr. J im Weeks There were many changes during the 1987-88 school year, but the biggest change was the arrival of our new principal; Dr. Jim Weeksi He came to TJ with 18 years of experience as a principal in the PAISD. He served as principal at the night school at Edison Middle School, and for the last 15 years was principal at Franklin Elementary before taking on the T1 position. 81 love working with the kids and teachers at TJ. There is always something exciting going on. I like to deal with a challenge? The biggest change for the students this year was the addition of Saturday Detention. 8A friend of mine gave me the idea for it. I COWBOY J IM e Dr. Weeks daydreams about being on a ranch instead of at school needed to get students, attention? he said. With the arrival of Dr. Weeks came a boost in school spirit because of the reinstitution of the old Powder Puff Game. Dr. Weeks also planned new programs and changes for the 1988-89 school year, which includes a closed campus during the lunch periods and continued plans for the fence set up in the student parking lot. The lot will again be secured by a security guard who will patrol the student parking lot to keep undesirables off our school grounds. He also plans to establish a TEAMS program for reviewing and learning TEAMS skills. There are still some areas that need to be improved. Pd like to see the good behavior of our students continue, he said. Dr. Weeks is married and has two children His hobbies include traveling across the country in his trailer home and spending time with his family at Toledo Bend. 81 have more hobbies than I have time to do them inf he commented. He likes antique furniture and collects tlEarly American Junk, which is anything from the early days. Dr. Weeks looks forward to seeing students continue having spirit and taking pride in their school.
