Trading Places itHey, John! Can I borrow your lipstick? ttAmy, my shoulder pads are too tight? Sound backward? Well, thatis the way it was on Oct. 21, 1987 here at Thomas Jefferson High School. For the first time in five years, the senior class reinstituted an old high school tradition: The Powder PuffFootball Game. The guys, their skirts blowing in the breeze, executed deadly pyramids as the girls lined up on the sidelines of the football field. Port Arthur came out to Memorial Stadium to support the Jacket football team during Homecoming Week. The girls played a tooth and ttbrokenh nail game while being cheered on by the guys who were organized into three groups: Cheerleaders, Buzzards and Screamsters. The Gold team was led by the brilliant running efforts of Evy Leveige who produced the only score of the game, which ended 6- 0. The scoring was held to a minimum by the great defensive efforts of both teams. Despite the sticky fingers of Paula Pond, the Maroon team was unable to get on the scoreboard. The coaches, Beverly Dominguez and Kelly Doyle were commended for their work with the girls. The Screamsters, led by Captain Frank Nessour and lst Lieutenant Larry Triebel, turned in an ex- cellent performance during the half-time activities. Other drill team members were Michael Migues, Patrick McCorvy and Seth Dugan. Half-time activities also includ- ed a performance by the Buzzards Drum major, led the group through a spectacular routine at mid-field to simply dazzle the near 300 in attendance. WE'RE N0. 1 e The Gold Team rips through their run-thmugh before their victory. Highlighting the half-time ac- tivities was the crowning of our Powder Puff King. Princes in the running were members of our male cheerleading squad. Fourth runner-up was Robert Muse 02y, third runner-up was James Deloney 02y, second runner-up was Joey Boudreaux 02x first runner-up was Scott Jackson 02; Powder Puff King was Robert Chessnn 0 2t. Congratulations to both teams, the organizations, and the teachers for their great performances. Also, congratulations to the football team for finishing off the week with a tremendous slaying of Vidor. ITS MY TURN e Leprecia Fontenot U 2i rests as the defense takes over. RAISE YOU HANDS! -- Tracy Sessions 0D plays football after begging Mr, Germer to let her be dismissed from the Swingster drill team.
