Here. Skip parades Pam through barrels in competition in Ennis. Texas where they received an honort Pam and Skip have been working as a team for four years. Together they have won various honors and intend to keep competingt Pam has recently moved from Ennis, Texas where she participated in Rodeos often; now that she lives in Port Arthur she still attends competition as usual. Pam attends a competition called a Playday, which is somewhat like a rodeo except calf roping is not entered as a competition, neither is bull riding or bronco busting. In a Playday there are various events such as obstacle courses, poles, goat tying, and the flag race. Of course, Pam's favorite is barrel racing, in which she excels highly. Pam takes her hobby very seri- ously and intends on competing and working with horses for many years to come. We became part-time photographers who specialized in secret assignments - secret in that we usually didnt know about them NI a few minutes before We even went so far as to take a last minute trip to San Antonio to get some much needed pictures of Hussars. But our duties didn't stop there. We spent our lunch perie ods stamping memory books to raise money tor the annual Burnt fingers were a sideline bonus Deadlines were a real challenge, including working late Into the evening. Once we even held up a plane llight to Dallas to get the color section in on time. Also, none of the Court members will ever lorget that rainy day we had scheduled the outdoor pictures, We spent our time with umbrellas protecting them and their clothes in order to get the beautulul pictures we needed. A lot of the problems came as a result of people who neglected their assignments and graduated promising to come back and finish their sections tfamous last words; A small incxdence of vandalism destroyed the last annual shipment of over 100 pages. This made us work all sum- mer to linish the book and the last pages were mailed on August 15 We hope that you enjoy the memories captured In this annual that shows We Were Here! Kristie P. Under able leadership, and the guidance of a new sponsor, Mr. Joe Bartlett, Congress has become one of the top organi- zations on campus. The key event of the year was the State Convention of Texas Student Councils when T. J. won a Top Ten Project Award for the Rebirth of Patriot- ism at our school. The committee system was put back into use resulting in more dances, Neat Week campaigns, exciting Home- coming activities. and hard work for charities like the March of Dimes. Reaching to new horizons, Congress sponsored the Valentines Dance, restored the honor of Citizen of the Month, held a Spirit Assembly, and created Spring Fever Week. Teacher-Student relations were improved with a Secret Pal program and two parties for the faculty. This was a year of firsts: Congressmen applied for office, the service point system was used, the Activities Calendar was promoted and purchased, and Congress donated the oil portrait of Thomas Jefferson to the school. It is safe to say that the hardworking Congress- men do a great job representing everyone in the school! mEmE: 226:? Then the Ebbtide Staff was moved from room to room to work in. They had a rigid schedule that they were trying to meet; and during the rush that occurs before a deadline, they left part of a story out of the magazine. They ran off the remainder of the story and delivered it to all those who had purchased an Ebbtide. Much to their relief, Ebbtfde was distributed before the end of school. This daring show isjust one of the ways that twirlers add spice to the Maroon and Gold Band 5 show. Twirling is not a cheap hobby. it costs approxi- mately sixty dollars per per- son, not including seventy more for uniforms and other things. To be skillful at twir- ling, it takes practice. Some- times up to two hours a day after school and more at home. Our twirlers last July spent a week at drill camp at the University of Houston. They received the Best Twirling Line award on top of other Hsuperior twirling awards. The Silks is com- posed of members of the student body at large.
