I guess that one would consider me more the sporting type of fellow, hut I had an eye on studies, too. I shall neyer forget the day 2000 of you Jackets swarmed into the gy m to admire my glossy maroon body. decorated with gold stripes. That was the day! Nameless then. I acquired the monicker of Big Buzz as a result of a suggestion made by Miss Irene Smith's homeroom. A group of handsome buddies called The Texans escorted me to the football field and stowed me away after each game. The cheering crowds, the antics of yell leaders, the Hart: of Hussar bugles, the big blocking J made by the band created just the right atmosphere for a football team displaying the utmost in skill, determination, and sportsman- ship I could have popped my stripes with pride many a time! After football season was over, I went into winter retirement, but I was among those who cheered Charles Wilson and others in the IIBig FiveI, when they looped the basket. Basketball always brings out'a lot of reaI Jacket fans. 5

I am wonder- I will take up Billie Dominguis place as -nnis of TV next year. weer sounds of muiic drifted upwards. and I knew the choral department and the hand were tuning up for contest. I even hummed along with Jack as A Cappella Choir and Girls' Glee Club won Sweepstakest a Iirsl division rating in both concert and sighlreading. More than 100 medals were won by Maroon and Cold Band contestants. While studying is not my long suit, I really got a buzz when I read in THE PILOT that four final- ists qualified ih National Merit Scholarship tests, With an additional six commended for their high ratings. A great number of juniors and seniors were members of National Honor Society, and so many won individual awards in various contests. as well as in Interscholastic League, that Miss Erwin had almosl a full-lime job in keeping the newspaper clippings posted on the bulletin board. I really hope to sit in on some more debates next year, and I might get an assignment as a re- porter on the newspapen
