Rockand, and David Andrews familiarize themselves with the car while sther students practice driving. 2) New driving range allows instructor, Pop Cuesta to get a bird ' s eye fiew of students ' driving procedures. 3} Students jwarf their instructions over the microphone system. 4) itudents in Spanish II use headphones in order to lis- en to and repeat speaking drills. 5) Cindy Corum and Anita Chapdelaine get ready for drills which come from the Media Center. 6) Laura Lang, Tony Washington, Brenda Burtram, and Huby Carr listen as Mrs. Parrodo speaks through the main set. 7) Steve Leonard ' s French lessons, usually an enjoyable niche in Americo ' s problems, fail to break this morn- ing ' s blahs. This year JHS had the most modern driving range in the county. The new Tel-Mate Res- ponder enabled students to view different maneuvers. A sound system was intro- duced in the language department along with its own recording studio.

1 ) In speed reading Russel Martinez, along with the rest of the class, practices hts reading. 2} Advanced Theatre Arts gives Linda Rhodes, Susan Hicks, Lisa Dominguez and John Martina the chance to play cowboys and Indians. 3) In Advonced Theatre Arts Susan Hicks and John Martina improvise a robbery. 4) Mr. Hill demonstrated to students the art of per- forming levatation. 5) Students in Mythology work on creative projects about Greek gods. 6) A speed read- ing machine helps Mrs. Miller drill her class in read- ing. Offering forty courses, both semester and quarter, made Jefferson ' s Language Arts Department the most unique and prog- ressive in the county. As a totally elective curriculum students could choose among vocational or college prep courses.
