SHOP Mr McAIister has done a fine job in 'nstructing the shop classes These lasses are composed of students who 'Jre interested an learning about the fnany things that can be made out of lvood and metals They learn how to carve and put together many things from just n or more pieces of metal ' The many machines enable the stu ents to make things which may be used n or about the home Thev also learn Ow to describe the many tyoes of ma erials with which they work We at Jef Person offer three years of shoo in which he students may progress each year by experience For many shoo brings out the skill and abilitv to work with wood and metal It may encourage students to continue in this field as a line of work For others shoo may interest them as a hobby Eugene Baker making a bowl on the lathe machine V HOMEMAKING The main purpose of Homemaking is to give the students who are taking ad- vantage of this course a better under- standing of their responsibilities of keep- ing a home for her family in the future. Among the many things which are taught to the students are cooking sew- ing and how to keep a budget of her expenses in maintaining a home in good order. The students have several days in which they are in the classroom and the remainder of the week they spend in the kitchen where they are given instructions by Mrs, Heaton, our Homemaking teach- er, on how to prepare different kinds of foods. SCIENCE We are proud of our Science De- partment at Jefferson, One of our most interesting fields of science, Physics, is taught by Mr, Rosete This course is composed of stu- dents with a B or better average in math and also with four years' background in other fields of math, ln order to get a deeper understand- ing and to go into the subject more thoroughly, this class meets on Thursdays and Fridays at eight o'clock in the morning 15 'Y' XE- The chemistry classes have a new teacher this year, Mr. Moradiellos. In this course we learn about the ele- ments of nature and its chemical and physical changes. We also study formulas and equations which are connected with the many various ele- ments, some of which were made by man, Other science courses offered in Jefferson are: Biology I, Biology ll and Advanced Science, Bill Moyer and Gloria Saguc smile happily at the results of the Physics experiment.
