Often the Behind the Scenesn is more thrilling than the finished product itself, for the hardships endured and the handicaps overcome are real and not the product of a fictitious mind. The Monticello Staff this year has met bottlenecks in almost every phase of annual work-lack of advertisement, lack of film, and lack of stalf members themselves. QUILLA Through the efforts of Mrs. Priscilla Donnelly, six jefferson girls had the privilege of being the first stu- dents of the three Tampa High schools to be admitted into the International Honorary Society for High School Journalists-Quill and Scroll. These girls, members of the hard-working Jeffersonian Staff, were introduced in a special assembly during the first sem- ester of the school year. In order to become a Quill and Scroll students must be of at least a Junior standing, must be in the upper third of their class in general scholastic standing at the time of their election, must have done superior work ND in some phase of journalistic or creative endeavor, must be recommended by the supervisor or committee governing publications, and, must be approved by the Executive Secretary. Members of both the Monticello and -Ieffersonian staffs worked diligently to meet these requirements, and as a reward for their efforts nine new members were inducted during the second semester. Plans have been made to organize a Jefferson chapter of Quill and Scroll in which members can intelligently discuss the journalistic problems of both the high school newspaper and annual. 5, .
