On the front entrance to Thomas Jefferson one reads the quotation, To enable every man to iudge for himself what will secure or endanger his freedom. This high goal which was set by the school for its students requires that the curriculum provide knowledge. ln the modern world one must be alert and ready to evaluate what he sees or hears in terms of its merit to his development as a well-rounded person. Since so many students who graduate from Thomas Jefferson continue their education by going to college, the curriculum at Thomas Jefferson must be on a high scholastic level. Nevertheless, Thomas Jefferson does not neglect its business-minded students, the students who will enter the business world immediately after their graduation from high school. The school has set up an entirely separate program for them, a curriculum including courses which will be quite valuable in various fields of the business world. One can readily see that a school which has a high scholastic rating and a well-rounded program at the same time demands of the faculty a greater level of competence. This is most essential in order that the students be well-prepared to face their individual futures with open minds. Well educated teachers do not teach by method, they teach by knowledge. The faculty at Thomas Jefferson is well qualified to instill in the students the basic knowledge which will enable them to become the leaders of tomorrow, the men and women on whom our country will depend.
