Fanders, the Monticello advisor, sometimes takes some amusing pictures. Grouped around him are the staff's editors: Connie Johnson, Business Manager, Feather 'A Schluter, Advertising, Frances Colton, Editor-in-Chief, and Barbara King, Art Director. The other capable members of the staff are Don Cleveland, Bob Han- sen, Gilbert Stodgill, Dale Haven, Linda Blum, and Ed Bruner. Meeting the deadline: Connie John- son is seeing type dancing before her eyes, Walter Head, after drink- ing countless cups of coffee to keep awake, gives up, and Frances Col- ton gazes dreamily at a little puppy who wandered in to help. ' ' i. This book set several precedents. The staff was organized, the first 16-page sec- tion was completed, and the cover and the theme were selected by June, 1955, three months early. Also a color shot was used for the first time. Annual teaches many things-art, composition, English, promptness, salesrnanship, and advertising. But most of all, it teaches cooperation, among the members of the staff and those who cooperated with us. The staff hopes that in the years to come, this book will bring back many cher- ished memories. This page compliments of J. C. Varsity Cheerleaders pictured on opposite page are: Sandra Case, Valeria Hager, Rosalie Handke, Mary Claire Lee, Judy Lef- gren, Helen Medakovich, Linda Mally, Linda Moss, Katherine Peterson, Karen Rogers, Kay Shivley, Carol Stucker, Sharon Wahl, and Roberta Walker. Kay Kohles advanced from alternate to varsity at the last of the basketball season. Jane Jones is the remaining alternate, The I956 Cheerleaders have done an out- standing iob. At the Pep Rallies, they worked out dramatic skits to show what the horrible fate of the foe was. LittIe Red Riding Hood, Hard Hearted Hannah, and a funeral were just some of the wonderful skits. Besides their dramatic efforts the Cheerleaders worked long hours perfecting new cheers and co-ordinating old ones. But more than this, the Cheerleaders kept spirits high, even when Tee Jay's score was low, and they had a constant faith that is so vital to the team and spectators alike. Smuggling, murder, and a ghost train added up to a spine-tingling evening. But, it didn't lack in comedy. The illusion of an exploding train was achieved by the use of expert sound ef- fects, which brought the play to a thrilling end.
