Algebra II, Math Review California State Math's importance to T. J.'s curriculum stands unchallenged. From seventh grade deci- mals to senior trigonometry, math's program re- volves from its basic subject fundamentals to its difficult analytical reasonings. To a student traveling this mathematical cycle, challenge is consistent and alive. Always, is the involved quadratic equation to there solve, the difficult geometric theorem to prove, and the obscure angle to ponder. His needed accuracy and his deep delvings for an answer call upon both the fundamental and the analyti- cal, the basic and the advanced. His ability to make the two congruent is his ability to broaden his own mind, its power, its potential. Utilized fully, math employs reason as well as memorization, heavy concentration as much as an accurate manipulation of figures, and a knowledge of abstraction equal to the tech- niques of practical applications. Math's learning is complex. Its probing is boundless. Its impor- ance is permanent-fixed-unchallenged. H F Charles M. Bittner Key Club, Photo Club College, B.S. in Ed. Neanderthal to anaveral, Ancient an Thomas jefferson's social studies program aims to give students the learnings of world, nation, and state. Its study is, in totality, a docu- ment of Man, his activities, progress, and contributions to his world. Ancient man in his primordial world-sophomores know him. The colonial revolutionist in his fight for freedom--juniors accompany his struggle. Modern man in his democratic America-seniors examine his work and problems. These examples of the past, these experiences of the present, these challenges of the future, studied and absorbed give the students a richer understanding of the world, their place in it, and their duty to it. To know Man and to understand his world: It is to this end that social studies leads. The world's future might well depend upon how near the aim reaches accomplishment.
