Taking the Plunge The swimming team took the plunge by breaking records held by others or their own in a triangular meet. Vince Ayoub broke the 50-yard freestyle mark with a 27.1 held by an ex-Fox David Ftomo. Earlier in the sea- son Vince broke his own 100-yard breast stroke by seven seconds. Ismael Cruz also won in his event of the 100-yard butterfly breaking a record time of 1134.8 with a time of 1:33.8. The schools attending this triangular meet were Austin High School, Fliveri side High School, and Jefferson High School. Most of the meets were held at the Y.M.C.A. or at the Washington Park pool. The longest meets are the tourna- ments which are usually 6 hours long, said Jesus Acosta The Plungers were under new lead- ership with their new coach. All the members were happy in having had Coach Richard Flato.
