The 1978-79 Golf Team was led by all-district putter Mark Ayala who came in third last year. Other members included, David Martinez, Juan Reza, Larry Balleste- ros, and Greg Aguilar. Beatrice Alvarado, Sandra Amaya, Belnda Banda, and Rachel Martinez, make up the female Golf Team. Coach Perea stated lf Mark Ayala and the rest of the Golf team play to the best ot their ability they can win district. The 1978-79 Sweetheart and beau were David Martinez and Sandra Amaya. Taking the Plunge The swimming team took the plunge by breaking records held by others or their own in a triangular meet. Vince Ayoub broke the 50-yard freestyle mark with a 27.1 held by an ex-Fox David Ftomo. Earlier in the sea- son Vince broke his own 100-yard breast stroke by seven seconds. Ismael Cruz also won in his event of the 100-yard butterfly breaking a record time of 1134.8 with a time of 1:33.8. The schools attending this triangular meet were Austin High School, Fliveri side High School, and Jefferson High School. Most of the meets were held at the Y.M.C.A. or at the Washington Park pool. The longest meets are the tourna- ments which are usually 6 hours long, said Jesus Acosta The Plungers were under new lead- ership with their new coach. All the members were happy in having had Coach Richard Flato.
