fpeech ls . . . X Diversity of Events Debate, duet acting, oratory, retry, prose, extemporaneous eaking, and humorous interpreta- n, these were only some of the merous events speech members rticipated in. Each diverse event quired a different approach and ecution. ln Spanish Reading, we had to spare two selections in Spanish im published authors. The first und was poetry, the second round ose, and in finals it was our oice, explained Jose Andrade, Different people enjoyed partici- .ting in different events. I feel tbate was the most exciting, warding, and time-consuming ent. It required speaking ability id organization of thought, pressed Norma Sarabia, 12. Members competed in many tour- iments at various schools. Each urnament was a new, unique, and it similar experience. The first stage of the tournaments was registration, followed by preliminary and first round competition. Between events, music was provided for the partici- pants to relax by. The award presen- tations were the most exciting part of the tournaments with the winners jumping up and down in glee. Add- ing to the year's agenda of tourna- ments was the first Silver Fox Speech and Drama Tournament held in years. Speech Club members partici- pated in several fund-raising pro- jects. Some such projects were lolli- pop sales and raffles. The debators held a car wash in addition to the other projects. The money was used to pay the entrance fees for the tour- naments. Overall, Speech was a lot of fun. You got a lot out of it, friends, and learning to stand up in front of peo- ple to do your thing. I really enjoyed Ielvleryfaart of it, concluded Carmen ia, .
