Fourth row: Gilbert Nunez, Eugene Flouroy, Fernie Garcia, Cruz Lopez, Danny Bustillos, Raul Rofriguez, Jesus Torres, Jesse Lucero, and Jose Harrera. Coach Bill Sanders and Assistant Coach Alfred Silva experienced an up and down season with a 3-4 record in district and 3-6 overall. They opened the season with a 34-6 massacre to the Bel Air Highlanders, At Las Cruces they faced the Bulldogs but were sent home empty handed of a victory, 10-6. After a long hard week of practice, they headed to Coronado and ended up with the short end of the game as the T-Birds just edged by the Foxes. After a few more losses and two more wins, the Foxes played their last - game of the season against the tough Eagle team of Andress. This time they ended up winning the game.

Mike Doporto C773 and Pat Ramirez C853 take down Bullit C333 for a loss of yard- age. Pat Ramirez C853 forces a fumble recovered by the Foxes but could not be run because of the rules. Larry Frausto C643 and Willie Aguilar C23 stop the Eagle offense cold leaving them yardless. Alvight to Forget. . . Eagles Surprise Foxes With a 21-6 Win on Errors The first district game for the Foxes ended in a loss caused by many mistakes. The game itself was very exciting because of the many spine-tingling plays. In the first quarter, the Foxes closest range to paydirt came from a pass to George Garcia C813, but was called back because of an illegal use of hands penalty. The crowd reacted by booing. In the second quarter, the scoring began. A Fox fumble was the cause of the Eagles' capitalizing on a 12-yard quar- terback run for the first score in the game. Late in the quar- ter, the Fox's drive was stopped cold by an interception. Despite a few errors, the Foxes displayed good defense. The score at halftime was 7-O, Andress leading. The second half was just as exciting as the first. Starting with the kickoff the Eagles soon went to work. They scored on their first possession of the ball. Moments later on a punt to Andress, Frank Lopez C873, jarred the ball loose on a good tackle giving the Foxes good field position, but the Eagle defense made the Foxes give up the ball. Soon after, the same thing happened as Frank Lopez C873 caused a fumble, giving the Foxes possession of the ball on the Eagles' 18- yard line. On third down, the quarter ended. In the fourth quarter Robert Martinez C153 threw a 20-yard pass to George Garcia C813 for the first Fox score. The extra point was missed, caused by a bad snap from the center. Problems continued for the Foxes as Andress again inter- cepted a pass. The Fox's defense made the Eagles cough up the ball and Pat Ramirez C853 picked up the ball. He ran for the touchdown, but it was called back because of high school rules. This happened twice. lf not for the rule, Jeffer- son would have won by twelve or fourteen points. Jeff again was stopped by an interception. Martinez' pass was deflected before it was picked off for a touchdown which ended the Foxes last hope.
