JETS? VVhat's That?l This past year, a new club evolved on campus. The Junior Engineering and TechnicalSociety, J.E.T.S., received its charter from the National J.E.T.S. in October. The club was composed of students interested in engineering and other associated technical vocations. The main purpose of the J.E.T.S. was to enlighten the technically oriented students on engi- neering. Club sponsor Mr. Ralph Pena and President Norma Sarabia worked hard to make this first year successful. The club officers scheduled several guest speakers for many of the meetings. J.E.T.S. members sold candy bars and had various fund-raising projects throughout the year. Several members were able to par- ticipate in the National Engineering Aptitude Search CN.E.A.S.J. The N.E.A.S. is a means of measuring one's ability in the verbal numerical, science, social studies, and mechani- cal comprehension areas. Numerous tours of the engineering facilities at UTEP were given through- out the year. Other activities included the Annual J.E.T.S. conference at Texas A 81 M and the Spring Engineer- ing Open House at Texas A St I Univer- sity.
