Their outstanding work and effort helped many of the clubs as they do every year. The P.T.S.A. had many fund raising projects, some of which was various rummage sales and their main event of the year, Mardi Gras. The P.T.S.A. asked for people to donate clothes and various items which would be of help. The money they raised went to awards. These awards were for Outstanding Senior and Citizenship. Much of the money raised went into scholarship funds for the graduat- ing class of '79. Among the clubs they helped was the Cross Country Team which they helped obtain new uniforms. One of the P.T.S.A. main goals this year was to strive for more student cooperation and participation. The P.T.S.A. is for the students also, otherwise it wouldn't be called the Parent Teacher and Student Association, commented Mr. Ramon Grado, P.T.S.A. president. Another one of their goals was to increase their member- ship from previous years. Mr. Henry Gonzales was voted by the P.T.S.A. to represent them at the state con- vention. As mentioned before the P.T.S.A. is for students and is set up for their benefit. The P.T.S.A. has student representatives selected by the Student Activity Manager, Mr. Jesus Sanchez. Two students from each classification are chosen and they are usu- ally members of Student Council.

Thank You. . . Exes Help Out School Functions The Jefferson Exes are more impor- tant than one thinks. Each year they sponsor the annual Homecoming event. Homecoming was held at the El Paso Civic Center. Exes also spon- sored many money making projects such as a golf tournament at Dos Lagos, October 1. The money they made was also put to good use. Exes backed up any club at Jefferson financially, and most importantly they supplied scholar- ships. These scholarships are not these one-year or money-to-start one off, they are four-year scholarships to good schools, quoted Mr. Frank Parga. This past year they provided five scholarships. One to the University of Southern California, one to West Texas State and three to the University of Texas at El Paso. The students were chosen from the list of applicants. The student does not have to be bril- liant, said Mr. Parga, They must be good students though. The scholar- ships are not given because of finan- cial quota. Officers were President Frank Parga, Jr., Vice-Pres. Joe Esquivel, Secretary Irma Lazarin, Treasurer Arturo Saucedo, and Sergeant-at- Arms Ruben Valenzuela. Ruben Sandoval was elected Outstanding Ex and received a plaque. Women Exes made money selling Jefferson bumper stickers at Exes assembly. -5 9.46-0 'h-0...
