I think that our club is doing a good job, because we just started and seem to be on the right foot, stated Yolanda Fraire, Treasurer ofthe Freshman Council. Being on the right foot sure seemed to have been everyones impression. The Freshman Council worked on many fund raising projects during the year. The council spon- sored cupcake sales and a carwash. Aside from meeting two times a week, the council met after school and on weekends. Considering that the Freshman class is such a small class, the Fresh- man Council managed when it came to their sales and assemblies. Their success mainly circled around all the Freshmen's cooperation and support. Overall the council was able to suc- ceed, thanks to their sponsor and classmates. Their officers consisted of 1 President Pat Nevarez, Vice-Presi- dent Veronica Diaz, Secretary Gloria Alvarez, Treasurer Yolanda Fraire, Beporter Baul Gonzales, Sponsor Mr. Ervin Pteifle and Parliamentarian Mari- bel Fraire.

Thank You. . . Exes Help Out School Functions The Jefferson Exes are more impor- tant than one thinks. Each year they sponsor the annual Homecoming event. Homecoming was held at the El Paso Civic Center. Exes also spon- sored many money making projects such as a golf tournament at Dos Lagos, October 1. The money they made was also put to good use. Exes backed up any club at Jefferson financially, and most importantly they supplied scholar- ships. These scholarships are not these one-year or money-to-start one off, they are four-year scholarships to good schools, quoted Mr. Frank Parga. This past year they provided five scholarships. One to the University of Southern California, one to West Texas State and three to the University of Texas at El Paso. The students were chosen from the list of applicants. The student does not have to be bril- liant, said Mr. Parga, They must be good students though. The scholar- ships are not given because of finan- cial quota. Officers were President Frank Parga, Jr., Vice-Pres. Joe Esquivel, Secretary Irma Lazarin, Treasurer Arturo Saucedo, and Sergeant-at- Arms Ruben Valenzuela. Ruben Sandoval was elected Outstanding Ex and received a plaque. Women Exes made money selling Jefferson bumper stickers at Exes assembly. -5 9.46-0 'h-0...
