'il lt's Been a Year. . Babies, You've Come Back! After losing the freshmen class in 1977-78, 250 freshmen returned and caused many unexpected changes in school plans. These changes included such things as freshmen council, sports, activities, and the need for freshmen cheerleaders. Freshmen wasted no time in becom- ing pan of the Jefferson crowd. During homecoming week, freshmen experi- enced new, different activities such as the sack race, the pinata, 50's and 60's day, etc. . . Another new and spirited activity were assemblies. Sure they had attended assemblies before, but never Jefferson assemblies. Here is where everyone had the chance to cheer for their favorite classification.

Some students get involved in clubs. Others participate in activities such as homecoming, mini-olympics, etc. . . . Yet others prefer the life of sports, as does Freshman Yolanda Fraire. Sports give me a chance to com- pete and meet other people, stated Yolanda. After attending Henderson Jr. High for two years, Yolanda finds it easy trying out for sports at Jefferson. Yolanda is a member of the tennis team whereshe hopes to better herself and the team. Yolanda Fraire strives to return serve.
