Keeping in Hurrying to get to class, Lloyd Bela opens his locker. Trying to do her best, Dolores Gomez hurries to finish her assignment to be turned in. Carmen Nila Sylvia Oaxaca Cecilia Ochoa Jesus O'Con Sira Olmos Jerry Ontiveros Norma Ontiveros Sandra Ontiveros Lilly Onate Ceci Ornelas Margarita Ortega Robert Ortega Sylvia Ortega Sylvia Ortega Gloria Ovalle Jose Pacheco Grace Payan Letty Pedroza Step Left, Left, Left, Right, Left . . . is a phrase heard quite often by both Drill Team members Dolores Gomez and Lloyd Bela. Dolores has been a member of Sophomore Council, having the posi- tion of second vice-president. She feels some advantages of being in High School are learning to take responsibility, striving for goals and accomplishments, also acting maturely. Being in high school is one of the greatest accomplishments which is why she enjoys such subjects as biology, geometry, ROTC, and grammar. I like Jefferson because of the school pride, everyone seems to par- ticipate which makes it great. I could think of other things l would rather be doing than going to school but I don't want to be left without an education, stated Lloyd. He is a member of the Number Sense Club, ROTC, Drill Team, and ROTC Orien- teering Team. Lloyd enjoys subjects like social studies, geometry, drafting algebra, chemistry, and ROTC. Two advantages he feels are good are that in high school you learn things that will help you later on in life and also the idea of making new friends. The thing l like most about Jeffer- son is that there are many activities open to the students, stated Lloyd. Jesus Pelayo Jose Pena Anita Perales Angel Perez Carol Perez Celia Perez 119

Twirling Away '78 When I found out I made it for majorette, I felt so happy, I almost cried. Being the only sophomore majorette doesn't make that much difference, because when twirling, classification does not matter as long as you have the ability. There is one advantage to it, that is if you're a sophomore you have the opportunity to try out for two additional years. To prepare her tryout, it took plenty of effort, hard work, and dedication or her part. But all in all it paid oft at the end. Meeting band members, majorettes, and flag twirlers from other schools was part of the fun she experienced. The parades and games will always remain beautiful memories for me to look back on during my sopho- more year, concluded Norma.
