School Can Be Freedom for Blanco My first year of high school has been really terrific. lt's hard to realize that these last few years left of school are the first steps into adulthood. For many sophomores freedom is an advantage and an important role in high school. One of these sophomores is Marisela Blanco. She enjoys the freedom high school offers to prepare students for future life, and learning the procedures of becoming more independent. Marching band was a new and fun experience for Marisela this year. The welcomed response by upperclass- men made marching band an enjoya- ble experience. During her fall quarter, Marisela spent her mornings preparing for the annual marching band contest. Her main interest since Junior High has been devoting spare time in her love for music. Marisela plays the alto- fffii P-5 T3 :sg rf' 11 f.l'J33 Marisela Blanco enjoys playing the sax and the saxophone and the piano. One of those girls is fun-going and spirited Christie Castro. She was a cheer- leader for four years, and three of those years she was captain. Sports is another thing she is good atg she was a member of the basketball team. She played the cello at Henderson. Christie received the honor of being named Dutchess at Henderson. She has had many fulfilling years. Yet, she is still anxiously trying to advance in her studies and active life. Upon entering Jefferson, Christie participated in the Sophomore Coun- cil. She enjoyed being a cheerleader and plans to continue being one throughout her future years at Jeffer- son.
