Band. Honors Bestowed Year-Round At the Annual Marching Contest, the band was awarded a Superior rat- ing. I feel our super drills captured our first division, said Mr. Ioe Dove, director. They also entered a concert competition in Durango, Colorado and in El Paso. The stage band entered the U.T. Iazz Festival and other contests. Individuals also com- peted in solo and ensemble contests. The band marched in various parades such as Fiesta De las Flores, Rodeo and the New Year's Day parade, where they won the Sweep- stakes award. The band played throughout the year at half-time shows, assemblies, Christmas programs, Bi-Centennial concerts and other happenings. Shampoo sales and a drawing at Christmas were among the band's money-raising projects. ,. ,lk
