Be at peace with God, what- ever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confu- sion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. - Max Ehrmann The word happiness means many different things to different people. The feeling has even more defini- tions. Happiness can mean an A in math, a ride around the lake or ditching class and not getting caught. Assemblies are a form of expressing many person's repressed emotions. The relaxation after a good assem- bly, after the yelling and then the finale - receiving the spirit flag - all amount to many persons' happi- ness. The quiet happiness that is the cen- ter of many person's dreams is a fan- tastically beautiful thing. At Iefferson, most students strive for their happiness day after day. Many never achieve it. The football team hoping to win, then losing by one point. The band forming a circle and one person out of line. All these things seem to be of little importance to many of us, yet, if we were all football players or all in the band, we could all understand the meaning of that one person or one point. It's the feeling of happiness, whether it be sitting alone contemplating a sunset or of being with the one per- son you feel is the most important to you. All are feelings that are that per- son's and that person's alone. No one else can express that same feeling. Maybe use the same words to describe it, but the feelings are still different in each one of us. fa fbJT CCDT HUT
