Returnees Assist Top Eight Netters At Qpening Games Head coach Eva Lopez guided the tennis team through a fairly good season. Returnees Becky Martinez and Iulio Saenz led the separate squads through early season Round-Robin Tournaments with a successful record. Iulio was rated third in the city for his performance. After a fine showing in early play, the tennis squad entered regular competition with strong hopes, placing highly in the separate tourneys. B-Team Cagers Defeat Bowie g Win Z-4A Crown The female B-Team basketball squad, tied with neighbor- hood rival Bowie until the day of the game, managed to hold the Bearettes down to a 48-37 score to obtain the dis- trict championship. Coach Betty Cruzan directed the team through district competition in which they ended 6-0. Early in pre-district competition the girls, led by Patsy Villa on the boards, captured the first place hardware from the Guillen Tournament. They defeated Fabens, Canutillo and Ysleta to win the tournament crown for the second consecutive year. up ii....... fbll f
