Freshman Squad Terminates Season In Second Place Third-year freshman mentor Mickey Fitts guided the Rookie squad through the season in an effort to defend the 2-AAAA district crown. The squad finished with a 9-4 record and a second place position. The squads playing ability was enhanced by their speed and height. Outstanding freshman players were Ruben Gomez, Tony Rojero, Raul Ontiveros, Andy Gejarano, Paul Melendez, Vernon Wilkerson and Ray Fluellen. On the district level, competition was little felt as the Baby Foxes dominated all first round play and switched into second round action. Chit tal David Aranda dribbles the ball on a strong offensive attack to escape his opponent defenders. tbl Tony Romero prepares to shoot another suc- cessful two-pointer over a friendly Irvin opponent. fcj Offensive forward Vernon Keith Wilkerson attempts a close jump shot despite wandering Irvin defenders. The two pointer was good with the Rookie squad defeating the Rockets in non-district play. af KCJT

Successful Season Leaves B-Teamers Second In Z-AAAA This year's Iunior Varsity squad, with Coach William Ruiz at the helm, possessed many of the playing qualities neces- sary to make the season a success. Led by offensive start- ers Frank Maedo and Rudolfo Marshal, the team suffered very few problems throughout seasonal and district com- petition. In district the B-Team experienced trouble in three games and ended first round play with a 3-3 slate. The I.V. squad did nothing but improve their playing techniques and fin- ish the second round undefeated. Unfortunately for Coach Ruiz' gang, a 9-3 record wasn't enough for the crown and they ended second behind Bel Air. fa Cblt fc DT
