FOXES TROUNCE SILVER Jefferson set new High School Records last September 21, as they trampled over the Silver City Western Team by a score of 68-6. Humberto Valenzuela intercepted a pass and returned It 25 yards to set up Jeffer- son ' s first touchdown, tallied by quarter back Eloy Salamanca in two plays, to set a pattern. This pattern was carried out when Ed Rojas returned a punt 70 yards and Ruben Campuzano chugged 65 yards behind perfect blocking with an errant pass for other first-quarter touchdowns. SILVER FOXES CHALLENGE YSLETA INDIANS The fighting Foxes lost a heart brealdng game to the powerful Indian Eleven last October 19, by a score of 20-0. The Foxes drove the Indians to the Ysleta 10 only to lose the ball on a fumble. Outstanding play- ers for the Foxes were Humberto Valen- zuela and Ruben Campuzano. Line backers, Juan Vasquez, Eddie Mack, Finley and Chicky Castaiieda played a good game also. This was the first half that the Foxes had failed to score. TIGERS Jeff lost its most heart breaking game of the season on October 37, with El Paso High, coming out of a sudden to make the final score 15-13. The final play was the deciding factor in the game as El Paso, with 3 ' 2 minutes to play, turned back an intentional safety to gain position in the game. The fighting Foxes totalled 315 yards total offense to 212 yards for the Tigers. Juan Vasquez was the big gain as the Foxes moved into position picking up 34 yards in 3 carries around ends. Espinoza in 3 short punches put the ball on the Tiger 39. It was then that Jackson made his bid and succeeded. The other touchdown was made by Espinoza with a 17-yard run. 130
