Senior Play—actors spotlighted in comic portrayals, dramatizing the energetic spirit of the Senior Class. Key Club Basketball game—mock competition between the Key Clubs of White and TJ: contagious laughter pervading the gym as the drill team and band, composed of Key Club members, perform at half-time .. . The Christmas tree in the foyer, decorated by members of the Student Council, garnishing its skirts with presents for needy children, brighténing Christmas, diffusing joy and good will ... The Denton Speech Tournament attended by members of the Forensics Guild, laden with notes, high hopes, and enthusiasm ... The Christmas Concert—a beautiful and charming presentation, a medley of lovely Christmas ballads. Road Rally—a synchronized car relay sponsored by the Concert Choir, a timed race over a planned route. A blaze of victories in basketball: TJ wins the San Angelo and Lake Highlands Tournaments. The chilling air of December made warm through the brilliance of Christmas as restless students anticipate the joyous holiday season ...

January A hushed and dormant time, awaiting the awakening of Spring. Decisions, resolutions alter our thoughts and purposes as we contemplate the cavalcade of life ... Restless and pacing Concert Choir members waiting in the halls to audition for “The Music Man”; hearing the announcing of the roles of Harold Hill, Marian, and the population of River City in Rebel-grams delivered to classrooms and the delighted cries from those chosen to lead the cast. Completing try-outs for drill team officers to guide the Reb-Belles in marching routines, in high-stepping drills of colorful precision ... Studying for exams that have silently and suddenly come upon us; undisturbed concentration as students pore over ancient notes, papers, and pages ... Pervading stillness and subtle dreams veiling buoyant anticipations ... Glimpsing a brief vision— a promise of gaiety and hope ...
