Thomas Jefferson has a science department which is a credit to the new emphasis in educational programs throughout the nation, The chemistry department has been extremely successful in pro- ducing winning entrants in such competitions as the Westinghouse Science Talent Search and the District Science Fair. The physics department now encompasses two accelerated programs, a section of lVl.l.T. experimental lectures, and a high-aptitude section. Emphasis is placed upon engineering and modern atomic physics, with par- ticular direction toward college programs. The biology depart- ment adopts an ecological approach, with attention especially to human inter-relationshipsg thus is the entire science program round- ed to include all areas.
