IN T E SWIM Once again lellerson has won a borough championship in swimming. For the third consecutive time we stand undefeated. For the third consecutive time we have beaten Brooklyn Tech to clinch the borough Hag. Now we move on to the City Championship. The mighty opponent we must vanquish now is Evander Childs High School. lt's going to require a mighty effort but the boys on the Jefferson swimming team feel that they will wing at least they are going to try very, very hard. Tn the Tech meet this year, victory see-sawed back and forth till the very last event, the 200 yard relay. Our leadoff man, Harry Farber, broke out a lead for us. Wle lost a little of it by the time the last man was to swim. Through some brilliant swimming, Ed Zawaclaky, our anchor man, held the lead by just enough of a margin to beat Tech and give us the championship. The man responsible for building this great team of ours is Coach Doo, Shapiro. XVe shall never forget him. VVho are our senior swimmers? Co-Captain Ed Lichtman, a great per- former in both freestyle and breaststroke, the city champ for the 100-yard breaststrolaeg Co-Captain Walter Pesetslcy, a main-stay on the team for three yearsg Manager Abraham Tager, affectionately called Obbie'l by his teammates Che has competed in all eventsDg Martin Spieglman, called Old Reliable Che was always there when we needed himlg Joel Hillman, who never would give up.
