Ours ls the Heritage of the Future Upon the sturdy shoulders of the youth of a war-torn world falls the burden of preserving the priceless freedom which has been their fortunate heritage. At a time when hate and destruction are the symbols of our enemies, one may View with optimism the passing parade of our young men and women taking their places in the battle line of democracy. Who can doubt the strength of democracy, once he has seen the look in the eyes of A1nerica's youngsters as they are brought to the realiza- tion of the dependence of their country upon them for its maintenance? From 1776 they received the spark of life, but since that time numerous threats have arisen to endanger the sanctity of the nation. Always a great leader has arisen who has provided the genius, courage and inspiration so necessary. And always has the man in the street responded to the call. Today the threat is greater than it has ever been. Fanatics have spread terror in all directions with the avowed intention of dominating the world. Hitler, Hirohito and Mussolini-these are the enemies of the American way of life. It is up to us to contribute something in order to eliminate this menace. If the past is any criterion of what the future holds in store for us, it is with joy that we look upon that future, for what history is as glorious as that of the Red, White and Blue. Thus do we feel secure to meet the hardships and deprivations which are sure to confront us before the victory is assured.
