LL. ' A .f.., , I . ,.LI'.T'.IgCCl1'ITW1EfTJKM'L1L WEumEmimUMYtmUE' PIECES OE EIGHT Dear Sezziorsz OU graduate at an auspicious time in June. The Board of Education and the Board of Superintendents in their wisdom regard three years as a proper probationary period. By the expiration of that period, which Thomas jefferson High School is just completing, they feel that a school and all those in it have given every indication of whither they are headed. Now that you are leaving Thomas jefferson, I am curious to know what it stands for in your minds and hearts. Is there a jefferson standard? I-lave we made it sufficiently clear that we aim at a high standard of scholarship and personality? Is the school doing enough to develop the highly talented students among us or are they lost sight of because of the stress we place on service and athletics? Are we in other words, a well- rounded school? As I walk about the building and meet our students here and there, I get a clear understanding of the complex diversity of the types enrolled under the '4Orange and Blue. To turn our boys and girls into men and women prepared to meet life squarely, ready to do their share for humanity as well as for themselves has been our goal. Are we reaching it? That is for you to say. I should like to hear from some of you in reply to these questions later on when you see the school in perspective of distance. I started out with a great deal of faith in young people and I have not lost it. I hope I shall never lose it. May the next ten years, during which you will try to establish your- selves firmly in your life work, be happy ones for you.
