The State game was one of intensity and excellence as Kent Country Day fought tough but not tough enough to conquer the Spartans. The magic wand of Cinderello's god- mother continued to weave its spell as the Girl's Varsity Basketball Team advanced through District competition to the state finals. Thomas Jefferson 62, Douglas County 60. Arvada 50, Thomas Jefferson 49. Arvada continued to the finals and won the State Championship. 4-A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS 1980-81 WASSON 20- 6 WESTMINSTER 28-12 AIR ACADEMY 14-12 CHERRY CREEK 20-19 The Glass Slipper Often cast as the Cinderella school of the Denver 4A and State 4A league, two TJ powerhouses, the l98l football team and the 1981 basketball team proved that, yes you can find the glass slipper. Thomas Jefferson's varsity team, cast as one of the underdogs during the state basketball tournament, not 24 - Silver Anniversary Z. i' only surprised the media but advanced to the finals, losing there to Fairview thus becoming the sec- ond-place 4A basketball champions of the State of Colorado.
