D ' The Attendance and Counselors' Office and its staff have two-fold functions: gay to provide counseling and guidance services for all students at Jefferson High School, and fbj to maintain adequate records that will be available for each student during his lifetime. The counseling and guidance services are directed toward assisting each student. 1. To advance toward knowledge and acceptance of himself -- his abilities, his needs, and his potentialities g 2. To find opportunities for developing his abilities and interests, and for meeting his needs g 3. To face and accept without defeat those realities over which he has limited, or no controlg 4. To find means of achieving a way of life which is satisfying to him as a person and which is in harmony with the ideals of the democratic society of which he is a member. At Jefferson each student meets with his grade advisor each semester to make a program for the follow- ing semester and review his educational plans. Grade advisors may not be able to confer with students as often as they, the students, would like. Students or parents are urged to make an appointment for a conference with any member of the staff whenever it seems desirable. 8
