In his second year at Thomas Hart, Mr. Hawley has brought a new peak of excellence to the school with his never-ending interest and enthu- siasm. In the past year, he has been involved in almost every aspect of the school. He is a strong and respected leader. Mr. Hawley, a 1972 graduate of the University of S.C., majored in Biology and minored in Chem- istry. He also has a masters degree in education. With him comes the knowledge of an exper- ienced teacher and administrator. Mrs. Lou Gardner, as Dean of Students, has been extremely helpful to the juniors and seniors in their plans for the future. In addition, she has helped all high school students both as a teacher and guidance counselor. Mrs. Bateman has acted as the school's secre- tary and bookkeeper since its founding. Aside from her office duties, she is also our resident nurse and handles the accounts for most of the school's organizations. The 1981-82 Board of Directors consists of James C. Cox, Jr., chairman; William Robert Dempsey, vice chairman; Cameron Manning, secretary; Curry Dawkins, Dr. C. Brooks Bannister, Mrs. Katherine Moore, Dr. T. James Bell, W. Art Hawley, Mrs. Jane Easterling, with T. Jennings Lewis and Boyd Stokes, consul- tants. 13
