Text from Pages 1 - 218 of the 1975 volume:

The 1975 Reflector staff wishes to dedicate this book to Mrs. Joyce Fitzgerald, our sponsor. Her _ accomplishments in the past two years can be recognized in the improvements in the Reflector. Through her guidance, the book's budget went out of the red for the first time in several years and deadlines were met on time in order to assure prompt delivery of this book. Although the yearbook was incorporated into a Journalism Il class, Mrs. Fitzgerald not only taught us about journalism, but helped us produce the yearbook as a team, rather than a class. We know the genuine interest and concern she has for the yearbook because she has given so much extra time and effort. Her hospitality during summer meet ings ‘and ata Christ a dinner all added to our gratitude. We hope this boo will indicate to the school the great improvements in the Reflector which are due in part to Mrs. Fitzgerald. We also hope that in future years Mrs.Fitzgerald’s dual talent with business and journalism will continue to be fully realized. Bert Boisseau sang several solos while Crystal Davis and Martha Agnew accompanied the T.D. chorus with their expert talent on the piano with Mrs. Bruce directing. The Pageant included the typical Christmas scene — wise men, shepherds, angels, Mary, Joseph, and, of course, the baby Jesus exemplified in the traditional manger scene. 144 Christmas Pageant 45 1 Christmas Pageant An Unforgettable Forgotten Christmas 146 Christmas Show Misfit toys found love at the Christmas show when toymaker Tim Stanton and misfit Bert Boisseau traveled to Europe bringing back trinkets meaningful for the Forgotten Christmas. A spectacular Human Christmas tree inspired the audience as groups of carolers strolled down the aisles singing in German. Silent Night soloist was Cookie Ozmar with the chorus background in German also. A Spanish solo was sung by Dorothy Comfort, and a carol from soloist Leigh Randles. The spellbound audience was later captured within the glittery flow of silvery tinted ‘‘Icarus’’ dancers. The show ended with the fantastic production of the ‘Hallelujah’ Chorus. Christmas Show 147 Activity Period and Mini-Courses Reduce Monotony The Thomas Dale SCA once again produced a variety of mini-courses for student participation. Original, exciting, and fun all describe the one hour courses. The most popular classes included the History of Rock N Roll, in which students actually learned the dances of an earlier era; self-defense, with an actual demonstration by several experts; and gymnastics, where students picked up skills from Miss Wingate. The final day ended with matches, exhibitions, and dances. Mini- courses marked a five day break from the usual monotonous routine. 148 Activities Activities 149 151 SSOUINJe) 29 Gulysnd‘asualyedw) STIBH GJGMOY) WOYISLINSIY 152 District Tournament ‘egional Tournament . ke fe ee 9 oie 9S V2 Athletic Abilities Characterized by Winning Scores J.V. What is a Friend? I Il tell you. Itis a a person with whom you dare to be yourself. -. Your soul can be naked with him. Os you really are. With him you breathe freely — you can allow your little vanities and envies and absurdities and in opening them up to him they are dissolved on the white ocean of his loyalty. He understands. — You can weep with him, laugh with him, pray with him — through and underneath it all he sees, knows and loves you. A Friend —1 repeat — is one with whom you dare to be yourself. Anonymous 203 DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY U. S. NAVAL ACADEMY Annapolis, Maryland 21402 RD COLLEGE Scholarship Office Along the board of progress each person stops to discover life, to acquire knowledge, to make new friends and most of all to find himself. As in any other risk game, each move must be thoroughly thought out, taking into consideration the consequences that will result, and then choose the most practical, economical, and rewardable move that the game can offer. A wrong move can cause even the most prosperous to lose the game and to have to start alll -over again. A sure way to beat the risks is to be sure of yourself, and to take pride in what you are doing. But remember, the profitable feeling that can be experienced is gratification, not material wealth. Keep in mind that in this game, the adversary is the strongest so don't lose hope if you should not win the first time. Choose your own road and follow it, wherever it may lead. The game can be won. 208 On my honor as a student of Thomas Dale, | shall uphold the honor of my school and therefore neither lie, cheat nor steal. Two moves forward to go and one move backward to stop. These are the footsteps we tread in life. Each person moving ina fixed direction like a geometric plane which involves a set pattern. However, is the educational process a set pattern? Actually it conforms to none except that se by the individual. The move to go begins ir the fall and the move to stop ends in the spring, all contradictory to nature’s cycle. Moving along the board of progress, each student acquires and discards knowledge of significance, playing the game as he sees fit. When the final move to stop has been played each opponent seeking his eternal goal, will take with him his own individuality that will give to life the exuberance that is so necessary for existence. ie eae | THOMAS | REFLECT| LH 371 t CHESTERFIELO COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
