Knights attain statewide recognition Talent and hard work paid off as the Knights rolled to an undefeated regular season. Squeaking by Meadowbrook and speeding past six other teams set a mood for confidence as the conflict with Petersburg approached. The toe of Ken Castlebury proved essential in a defensive 3-0 TD win. With a certain berth in the regional playoffs, the Knights had only to survive the contests with Fleming and Dinwiddie. Led by Doug Harris’s total of 1384 yards rushing, spirited by co-captains John Goodloe and Dondi Shearer, and guided by coaches Ed Karpus and Jack Westfall, the Knights triumphed.
