MNO AAT AN MOLLI??44Y REFLECTOR 1973 Thomas Dale High School Chester, Virginia Volume 50 RY “A eo ” a2 vast f UELEREL ELLE PAVERAAN RR HOREHE LEME Damp Homecoming triggers varied reactions Remember that night? Old friends returned and students frantically decorated cars and trucks and spectators filled Crump Stadium. The band, colorguard, and majorettes and various other groups paraded the field; some singing, some waving, and some just being themselves. Then the game started. Remember that? We won 34-7. What a great team we had that year. Remember half time, when the queen was crowned? The stadium was silent and Mr. Crump slowly walked on the field and gave the crown to Cindy Blaha. Remember the dance? That was fun. Some complained Debbie Taylor, Lynn Ferrara, Sammy Trail because the band was too loud; some danced; and some passed out. Regardless of what they did, everyone had a good time. Remember that night? Squeaking by Meadowbrook and speeding past six other teams set a mood for confidence as the conflict with Petersburg approached. The toe of Ken Castlebury proved essential in a defensive 3-0 TD win. With a certain berth in the regional playoffs, the Knights had only to survive the contests with Fleming and Dinwiddie. Led by Doug Harris’s total of 1384 yards rushing, spirited by co-captains John Goodloe and Dondi Shearer, and guided by coaches Ed Karpus and Jack Westfall, the Knights triumphed. The team amassed a 22 point game average and yielded a 6 average. Ken Castlebury Doug Harris Jerry Gee 1973 Varsity Football Scoreboard TD 21.
