In the opening game, the Knights downed Farm- ville 7-O with Shelton scoring. Picking up momen- tum, they then rolled over out-classed Varina 33-0 in their next start. For the first time in a number of years, the Knights defeated Highland Springs 12-7, roaring back from a 7-0 deficit at half-time 61 with Walter Gilliam scoring both touchdowns. The Knights shut out their next two opponents, Henry Clay, 33-0, and Matthew Whaley, 13-0, before losing to strong Virginia Episcopal 13-6. Rebound- ing from their first defeat of the season, they bounced back to trounce Stafford 38-6 and Spot- sylvania 26-18. The season reached a climax on Thanksgiving Day with the game which Manchester won 46-12, deciding both the Suburban and the Group I! titles. Congratulations go to every squad member for a wonderful season. Warren Shelton, Bobby Dale and Willie Craver made the mythical All Suburban Team and Macey Vaughan, Richard Grantham and Walter Gilliam were named to the second string All Suburban.
