CO-OP The Thomas Business Co-operative is now in its tenth year of operation. It was founded in 1946 by Mr. Ford A. Grant, who at that time Was the assistant principal of the school. Its primary purpose is to give the stu- dents actual experience in organizing and operating a corporation, as well as being the backbone in most of the school social activities. Any full time student may become a member of the Co-operative by paying a twenty-five cent membership dues. The members elect a board of directors to represent the Co-operative and to manage certain school functions, such as the school store, newspapers, suppers, dances and what- ever problem that may arise. The Co-op's official business is the running of the school snack bar from which the majority of the funds are derived. Since the Co-op is a non- profit sharing Co-operative, dividends are paid to the members of the en- tire student body, in the form of gifts to students who are sick, wedding gifts to newly married students, a Held day during the last week of school and many other social functions. The first big event of the Co-op this fall was the sponsoring of the Har- vest Supper. This was held in the American Legion Home on College

Last June, a spring outing was sponsored by the Co-op at Bangs Beach. It was a misty day but everyone had a wonderful time. Similar events are being planned for this spring. It has been a privilege to be a member of the Co-operative, and I would like to take this time to thank Mr. Wheeler, our advisor, the board of directors, and the members of the Co-operative for all the co-operation that I received.
