B U S I N E S S Howe Business Department . . . For Your Future Have you ever walked through the halls and heard the humming and click- ing of machines? You probably had en- tered the Business Department, headed by Ms. McNeish. There are a variety of classes offered, each of which teaches and perfects busi- ness skills. That writing which resembles hiero- glyphics is shorthand, taught by Mrs. Aman. It is a skill widely recommended and used in offices throughout the busi- ness world. It's also beneficial for taking notes on any subject. Howe also offers a great learning ex- perience with on the job training in classes like Cooperative Office Educa- tion, headed by Mrs. Perry and Market- ing Education, headed by Ms. Burford. Students receive the chance to earn money, a grade, and experience in an office atmosphere. So take the risk, have fun, and learn along the way. English Department Offers Creative Outlets Did you ever have a desire to write a poem, make a speech, or strut across the boards of a stage? The Howe High School English Department offers a va- riety of outlets to all of these creative energies. If you have the imagination of Edgar Allen Poe, then you should get involved with Pen Points. But if you prefer to per- form your rhetoric, Speech class is just the thing for you. And speaking of performance . . . Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou, Romeo? If you feel you have the elo- quence and charisma to be a Shake- spearian actor, try out for the Senior sponsored plays. Humanities, Etymology, Science Fic- tion, Folklore, Journalism, and Year- book are also fun and unique classes of- fered through the English Department.
