JROTC teaches leaders Most people think that ROTC mainly teaches army material. That is not the case. Of course, it does teach a lot of fundamentals, such as left face or right face, but the course never teach- es things like hand-to-hand combat. Suppose someone were to walk up to Master Sergeant Corbin Davis and ask him what the purpose of JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) is. His reply would be to make better citizens of high school students and teach them leadership skills. When asked what the term leader- ship meant to them, Billy Jenson said, It rewards self-confidence. But Joe Whitney had a different point of view. He said leadership means being able to take charge of a group of people without being told, rewarding those who do good and punishing those who don ' t, and finally it means . . . admit your mistakes. Under the strong leadership of Battal- ion Commander Bruce Wright and Battal- ion Executive Officer Debra Fisher, the battalion placed again in the Veteran ' s Day parade. Under the direction of drill team commanders Bruce Wright, Joe Whitney, and Debra Fisher the male and female drill teams became more skillful and confident in themselves.
