President evaluates Council year When asked what I like and dislike about Student Council, I realized that I never really thought about it that much before. It ' s not an easy question to answer. I guess the reason I enjoy being in Council is because it gives me the opportunity to do what I like best — showing people I care and making others hap- py. Working on projects and seeing the actual success of all of your planning and hard work is an incredible feeling — truly a unique exper- ience. For me, Student Council is my existence here at Howe. Even during the times when I get burned out and am ready to give up, there ' s that feeling inside that won ' t let me, the feeling that for better or worse, Student Council is a really important part of my life, a part of me. What do I dislike about Student Council? My dissatisfaction with Council stems from the isolation I feel. Sometimes I think I ' m the only one who cares. It ' s really hard to want to do new things when you think that you ' re the only one who is willing to put forth the effort to see it through. The same people do everything. It ' s kind of upsetting to stare at an entire group of people who supposedly want to represent the student body and realize that very few of them want to take the initiative and accept responsi- bility. After all, if we ' re elected to serve your school, and we don ' t, who will? ANGIE SHEETS, PRESIDENT Upper left: The 1 986 motto is on display at the Leader- sey. ship Odyssey. Yearbook woes continue The 1986 Hilltopper staff started out to make a unique yearbook that would surpass the quality of previous yearbooks. Unfortu- nately, they were unsuccessful. Problems causing delay in delivery of the yearbook in- cluded laziness in writing copy, failure to show up for work sessions, and irresponsibility of various kinds. All of these factors led to missed deadlines and the lateness of the book.
