Madrigals and Ensembles A madrigal is a short medieval lyric of love. The madrigal singers of the sixteenth century traveled from village to village performing for landlords and kings. Our madrigals travel from church to church, in an effort to bring the madrigal alive in 75. The Madrigal Singers ' season of the year is Christ- mas. Churches all over the city invite the Madrigals to perform the tradi- tional feast, vifhere these talented young people demonstrate the six- teenth century dances, songs, and skits. The Ensembles, unlike the Madrig- als, sing the songs of today. All through the year the Girls and Boys Ensembles perform for the regularly scheduled Howe events and for many other places such as the Convalescent Center, the Gift and Hobby Show, and the various feeder schools to instill interest in the music department.
