The school is all right, but some of the teachers I do not like. For instance, Mr. Patterson. Howe stinks as far as I ' m concerned. Because they only ha ve a handfull of Blacks. They don ' t include in their dances a variety of Black music. Instead they play only their music and nothing else. So my view of Howe won ' t change until they change. Howe is 8:00 to 3:15, five days a week. I like Howe High School a lot better than any grade school because the teachers are nice, tuff guys and some friendly girls. I have only one thing against this school; it should have an elevator. Howe wasn ' t anything like expected. It was better than what I heard. I love everything about Howe. I have study first and I think its boring. If you don ' t have anything to do, you just sit there and the time goes so slow. You ' re not allowed to sleep. I just don ' t like having study first. If I had it last or around there, it would be better. I Don ' t Like Howe

Changing Classes Five mintues to go. It ' s almost over. Four minutes to go. Almost time. Three minutes to go. Just a little longer. Two minutes to go. Keep going, clock. One minute. Almost here. At last. Got to get to my locker, All this bumping. Get out of my way! Yes, teacher? Me? Of course not. I didn ' t knock his books. Go where? Room 124? But . . . I know, Room 124. What did I do? Well, you see, uh . . . Okay, Room 268. 3:1 5? But, but . . . Could I have a pass? I know I ' m late to class. Kevin Moorhead Reflections The hails are quiet now; only teachers. It ' s hard to imagine three thousand people scrambling in different directions after the sounding of one little bell. shouts and excitement of a crowd at a basketball game, a wrestling match, even a pep assembly. just for the sake of winning, but for The auditorium is deserted. No one practising his or her lines for the senior play. No sounding of the orchestra at the conductor ' s command for the annual musical. Not even the sound of one lone speaker from the podium. Even the classrooms seem desolate. Another janitor washes the day ' s knowledge off the blackboard. No more slamming lockers or dropping books until tomorrow. Well, until tomorrow for some. Will memory actually preserve four of the most nerve-racking, exciting, disappointing, fun — the best four years of a person ' s life? Four years come and go about as fast as a favorite class. The beginning of high school, with all of its unsureness and confusion, soon becomes the finale and then it ' s time to leave. Leaving is part of being a senior. The sad part, but the necessary part. Maybe someday I ' ll just look back and smile, or come back and remember. hsHHH
