halanced team Displaying an impressive season, the spike- sters, coached by Ray Bowman and captained by Pete Shick, compiled an 8-2 record. The Hornets showed a well balanced scoring attack in both track and field events. At the annual spring banquet, Cliff Oilar was chosen most valuable player and Jim Burck receivedj the award for the best mental attitude. In the Hoosier Relays, sponsored by Howe, the cinder- men won three events and placed third in two others. The Hornets, winning their first four meets from Warren, Bloomington, Ben Davis, and Lawrence Central, finally were stopped by a strong Broad Ripple team. After losing their second straight to Attucks, the cindermen won their remaining four matches, defeating South- portg Warren and Manual in a triangular meet, Columbus, and Noblesville.
