While most Howeites live in the east side community of Irvington where Howe is lo- cated, some have to rise bright and early in order to get to school from outlying communities. When you arrive at school a quick look down the locker-lined halls will reveal the kind of weather. On a rainy day you are apt to see umbrellas dripping from the locker handles for lack of space inside the locker. In the spring Howeites are often reluctant to go to class, and halls remain crowded un- til the very last minute. But winter or spring it is always necessary to say hello to friends and take a last minute look at the textbook before the big exam. The flag raising, the sprint from the park- ing lot, the gab session at the locker with friends-all these are part of the starting of Howe's day. You hurry to class, the bell rings, and another part of the picture appears-the classes. A last minute check of the locker to see if she has everything and Mary Lois Holaday is off to class. Coached by Mr. Fred Lemley, the team placed sixth in the regionals held at Sarah Shank Golf Course. Competing in 13 spring - ' Peters lines up a putt as Williams watches. matches the divot diggers also participated in two fall matches. While shooting their best score of the season, 308, the Hornets were defeated by a highly rated Shortridge team who posted a record 286 score at the Riverside course.
