Starting the season against Washington, the netmen defeated the Continentals by 23 points and displayed an amazing show of scoring power. Traveling to Franklin next, the Hornets whipped the Bears in a close game. Opposing highly rated Connersville in the third game of the sea- son, the team defeated them by nine points. Next to fall to the Hornets' sting were the Red- skins of Manual. Suffering their first loss of the season, the team put up a good fight but lost to Broad Ripple by 3 points. Bounding back with a victory over Lawrence Central, the B-Ballers then lost their next game to Southport. Winning three from Columbus, Garfield of Terre Haute, fContinzccd on Page 1052

Coming up against their arch-rival Tech, the Hornets lost 74-58, and in the next game Howe was bested by the number one team in the state, Attucks. Winning their next two from Ben Davis and Cathedral, the Hornets were beaten by New Albany 77-68. In their last two games, the netters finished the regu- lar season with a win over Warren and a loss to Lebanon. In the city tourney, Howe beat Manual but lost to Tech in the second round. In the Sectionals Howe defeated Harry E. to nialac a shot. Kent Stewart, and Clilf Oilar were elected co-captains while Dick Patterson received the award for the best mental attitude. Kent Stewart also received the most valuable player award. Howe's 1956 Basketball Queen, Jane Yogt, was crowned at the Columbus game by Co- captains Kent Stewart and Cliff Oilar.
