If Howe's fifty-member band has shown it- self to be one of the most improved organi- zations in the music department. Members of the A band, pictured above, are selected after careful training in the B band. The purpose of these two bands is sometimes confused, and it should be realized that B band is merely a training group. Among the band's many performances were phqing hm'open house,theCIMy Foot baH Jandxnee,and Eve honnsfootbah ganus. They even traveled to Anderson for one game appearance. Continuing in the athletic vein, the band revived the practice of play- ing at home basketball games. Their annual Concert was given at Howe on March 26, at which time band letters and senior awards were presented. The program hnduded such sehxiions as UFirst Swwxhsh Rhapsody, Dark Eyes, Amparito Roca and T.V. Suite. Other band activities were marching in the Irvington Halloween parade, and playing for school assemblies and pep sessions. In April, the band represented Howe as a dass'UXH Band hithefXnnualConnxniUve Festival held at Shortridge High School.
