They mind their business Business managers have an important role to play in the promotion of Howe's extra-Curricular activities. Advertising the events and selling the tickets are only two of the many duties performed hy this group. Under the direction of Mr. Charles Rusch- haupt, these student managers also perform bookkeeping and accounting chores for the programs under their management. Jim Springer and Bill Walton are head business manager and house manager, re- spectively. Other staff members hold impor- tant jobs to make music festivals, plays, and athletic events run smoothly. Orchestra trains musicians 1 ee X' Page cnc hundred four Perhaps not so well known as the band, the orchestra has proved that it has talent, too. The string classes and the woodwind classes serve as training' groups for begin- ners who wish to join the orchestra. Some of the A Band members also double in the Howe orchestra, principally in the brass and woodwind sections. Other orches- tra members have received their basic training on the violas, cellos, and string bass, in the string class taught by Mr. Louis McEnderfer. Woodwind players likewise re- ceive their initial training in the woodwind Class. Uniformed in brown and gold the orches- tra presented its annual concert in December. They also played at open house, participated in a state contest on April 3, and played for Howe's May Music Festival. Mr. McEnder- fer is the director.

For the first time in the history of Howe, French classes are being offered in the school curriculum. Miss Marthana McWhir is teaching all of the French students the do's and don'ts of this romance language. Yes, the French Riviera, Eiffel tower, and the irregular verbs are studied by these French students, who are eager to learn about their romantic neighbors in Europe.
